Why does water come out of Car Silencer? Is the engine getting damaged?

Why your car's muffler leaks water: You've probably noticed frequently that water sometimes leaks out of your muffler when you start a stationary car. So is there a need to panic when something like this happens? No, actually getting water out of your car's muffler is a sign that the engine is fine. A lot of people don't realize this and think that if water is coming out of the muffler in their car, it means there is a problem with the engine, but this is not the case. So don't worry, it's completely normal.
Why does water flow out of the car muffler?

There are two main reasons for a car engine to leak water. The first reason is condensation. When an internal combustion engine is running, carbon dioxide is released. Water vapor will also escape. It turns watery when the car is stopped after driving and the engine cools down. Now, when you start the car again, this water will come out of the muffler.

Another reason is the catalytic converter. The catalytic converter filters exhaust gases from the engine. When the gases leaving the engine are filtered by the catalytic converter, water vapor is now produced, and that same water vapor leaves the muffler as water. This also indicates catalyst health.

If the car muffler emits smoke with water?

Now we come to the second point. It's not a good thing if smoke comes out of the muffler with water. Now you have to worry. If smoke comes out with the water, it could be due to a faulty engine piston or piston rings.
